Scopes#

Tap the monitoring tools key, or the scope tile, in the lower-left group to open the scopes panel. Choose a scope with the tabs (1–4) and an overlay with the tools (5–8).

Exposure and focus tools#

The tools (5–8 in the scopes panel) draw one overlay at a time on the picture. Tap the active tool again to turn it off; the Assist Line confirms, for example Zebra On. Your choice returns when you reopen Pro, and a preset can set it. Thresholds are fixed.

ToolMarksNotes
ZEBRAPale diagonal stripes on everything at 70 % and above, fully drawn from 72.5 %.One level only; it also marks areas above 100 %.
F-COLORNine bands of color by level, from deep purple below 2 % to magenta at 95 % and above.Drawn over the picture at 90 %.
CLIPRed at 95 % and above, blue at 5 % and below. Both fully drawn 2 % past the threshold.
PEAKRed outlines on sharp detail.Sensitivity is fixed. Settings › Interface Settings › Focus Peaking with Zoom shows it while you zoom.

Scopes and tools on HLG and Apple Log#

The scopes and tools read the camera's source signal, independent of the selected Log View; the table gives each one's treatment of HLG and Apple Log. IRE in the scopes means percent of the video signal range; values above 100 or below 0 are not shown.

ToolHLGApple Log
ZEBRA70 % of the HLG signal. The scene level that reads 70 % on Rec.709, about 61 % of the Log signal (exact for neutral gray). It marks exposure, not clipping.
F-COLORBands follow the HLG signal.Bands follow the Log signal, so normal exposure sits lower: black reads cyan and 18 % gray yellow-green.
CLIPThresholds on the HLG signal.Thresholds on the Log signal: blue does not appear, and red only on extreme highlights.
PEAKMeasured on the HLG signal.Measured after converting to Rec.709 levels, so it behaves as on Rec.709.
Luma ▼ ▲Measured on the HLG signal.Measured on the Log signal, not the sensor: the sensor can clip before ▲ rises.
