Set ISO and shutter#
Tap ISO or S in the telemetry row to open its rail, then drag the scale to set a value. Dragging fixes the value: the padlock at the top of the rail closes and turns amber without a tap. The padlock shows who controls the value: the camera (open) or you (closed, amber).
Hold the current value
- Let automatic exposure settle on the subject.
- Open the rail and tap its open padlock.
Expected result: the padlock closes and turns amber, and the value turns amber.
Locked and automatic values#
Return to automatic
Tap the closed padlock to return the value to automatic. Before iOS 27, ISO and shutter return together.
Metering from a tap
With the Standard reticle, a tap on the picture also meters exposure at that point; values you locked stay as they are. Reticle modes
Shutter priority#
Shutter priority holds the shutter you set while ISO stays automatic. It needs iOS 27 or later and a format that supports it. Fix S with its padlock, then check that ISO still reads off-white (automatic). If the format cannot hold the combination, ISO is fixed with the shutter.
Before iOS 27, ISO and shutter are one exposure group: fixing either fixes both, so there is no shutter priority. A preset saved with shutter priority applies as full manual there.
Choose speed or angle
Open Settings › Camera › Shutter Units. Speed shows exposure time, such as 1/50. Angle expresses exposure time relative to the frame interval. A larger angle gives a longer exposure.
Aperture priority#
The ƒ control changes the iris only on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, on the main camera, with iOS 27 or later; MoviePro reads this from the camera. On those phones' other cameras ƒ is dimmed and shows the fixed f-number. On every other iPhone and iPad there is no ƒ control.
Adjust aperture
- Tap ƒ in the telemetry bar.
- Drag the rail or tap an available stop in the preset lane.
Expected result: the new f-number shows in the telemetry row. Dragging or tapping a stop also fixes ƒ: its padlock closes once the camera accepts the change.
Aperture priority
Fix ƒ with its padlock while S and ISO stay automatic: the camera keeps the iris and adjusts exposure around it. If the format cannot hold that, the change is refused rather than switching to full manual.
Hold or release aperture
Tap the open padlock to hold the current aperture. Tap the closed padlock to return it to automatic operation. Recheck its state after changing lens, format, or another exposure control.
